FROM THE PRINCIPAL

On behalf of the Mt. Vernon Intermediate staff, I would like to welcome you to the Mt.Vernon Intermediate webpage. We are here to serve your family and provide a quality education for your child.

I am happy to announce that for the 2nd year, Mt. Vernon Intermediate is an EXEMPLARY SCHOOL! I am very proud to say that our Elementary and Junior High schools were also named EXEMPLARY campuses. Our high school and district received a RECOGNIZED rating.
I am very proud of our staff and students!
A very enthusiastic group of parents has worked very hard to make
Mt. Vernon PTA a success. They have formulated many innovative plans to provide outstanding service to our school and outreach to our community.
We thank them for their efforts and encourage you to become an active member in this important organization. We offer many opportunities for parent involvement at Mt. Vernon Intermediate. Please contact Mrs. Dale, if you are interested in becoming a volunteer.
(Please remember, if you are a new parent to our school, we must enter you into our School Check-in ID system. This requires your driver’s license so please be sure to bring it with you when you check into the office.)
Good communication between home and school is essential. Teachers will send you information about events taking place in their classrooms and on their grade level. Please feel free to contact the teacher or check their website for information about theirclassroom and/or assignments. You can contact them by phone (903-537-3402) or email.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me at

Mrs. Surratt’s 6th Grade Social Studies classes did a special project for Earth Day 2010.
Students cleaned, weeded and planted flowers in the two flower beds in cafeteria-auditorium area of the school.  Supplies for the project were donated by Brookshires, Alco, Tom Scot Lumber and Hillcrest Nursery.  The students enjoyed making the earth a better place for all of us to enjoy.
